More than 43% of answers were recorded from the USA, Canada, and UK, while the next most popular countries were India, Australia, and the Republic of South Africa. That\u2019s what we wanted to find out, so we performed this survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The results are in, so let\u2019s take a closer look at them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">54% of users use accessibility features daily or occasionally<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/accessability-familiarity.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1171\" height=\"427\" src=\"https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/accessability-familiarity.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1243085\" srcset=\"https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/accessability-familiarity.png 1171w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/accessability-familiarity-330x120.png 330w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/accessability-familiarity-120x44.png 120w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/accessability-familiarity-140x51.png 140w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/accessability-familiarity-64x23.png 64w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1171px) 100vw, 1171px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the data we gathered, 32% of respondents use the accessibility features on the Windows platform daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>22% use them from time to time, while 14% use the ones that impact their daily lives. 16% never used them, and 12% just heard about them but never used them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That makes 28% of respondents that never used any of these features on their PCs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Magnifier is the most popular accessibility tool, with almost a third of respondents using it<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/which-features-did-you-use.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1141\" height=\"497\" src=\"https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/which-features-did-you-use.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1243086\" srcset=\"https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/which-features-did-you-use.png 1141w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/which-features-did-you-use-330x144.png 330w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/which-features-did-you-use-120x52.png 120w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/which-features-did-you-use-140x61.png 140w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/which-features-did-you-use-64x28.png 64w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1141px) 100vw, 1141px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Regarding features, the one that is used the most is Magnifier, and it\u2019s used by 32% of respondents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the second place, there are Color filters with 14%. Eye control is used by 9% while Speech recognition, Narrator, and Live Captions were used by 8% of respondents individually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The least used feature is Voice access, with just 7% of respondents using it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">The majority of users are generally pleased with these tools<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/effectivness-accessibility.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1120\" height=\"356\" src=\"https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/effectivness-accessibility.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1243087\" srcset=\"https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/effectivness-accessibility.png 1120w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/effectivness-accessibility-330x105.png 330w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/effectivness-accessibility-120x38.png 120w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/effectivness-accessibility-140x45.png 140w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/effectivness-accessibility-64x20.png 64w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1120px) 100vw, 1120px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>29% of our respondents think these tools are useful and work as intended, while 28% find them extremely helpful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>24% find that their effectiveness is average while 19% aren\u2019t pleased with them at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11% find their effectiveness to be very poor, and we hope that Microsoft will address the issues of those users soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Accessibility features are bug-free, for the most part<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/accessibility-bugs.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1120\" height=\"356\" src=\"https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/accessibility-bugs.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1243088\" srcset=\"https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/accessibility-bugs.png 1120w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/accessibility-bugs-330x105.png 330w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/accessibility-bugs-120x38.png 120w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/accessibility-bugs-140x45.png 140w, https:\/\/windowsreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/accessibility-bugs-64x20.png 64w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1120px) 100vw, 1120px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For accessibility features to be effective, they need to be easy to use and, more important, bug-free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Microsoft did a solid job in that regard, and 40% of our respondents never had any issues with these features. &nbsp;While 22% did encounter some issues, they were able to fix them quickly and without too much hassle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s worth mentioning that Microsoft support helped about 17% of our respondents to fix the problems with accessibility features, and it\u2019s great to see that Microsoft is taking these types of issues seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, 21% did encounter bugs and issues fairly often, and we hope that Microsoft will do better in the future and optimize these tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">The majority of users are pleased with the accessibility features on Windows<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to our data, about 53% of users are pleased with accessibility features on Windows and won\u2019t use any other alternatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep in mind that many aren\u2019t familiar with alternatives as well. Also, we have to mention that about 5% prefer using third-party solutions instead of built-in tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Some features need improvements, and users are hoping for more customization options<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our respondents stated that they want to see improvement in voice accessibility features, especially when combined with artificial intelligence. Since AI is set to become widely used in all aspects of life, we\u2019re positive that we\u2019ll see this in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Voice items &#8211; because of the emergence of AI<\/p><cite><em>Anonymous respondent<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking of which, few stated that voice recognition needs improvement since it has issues recognizing certain words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Voice recognition &#8211; Occasionally it inputs the wrong word..<\/p><cite><em>Anonymous respondent<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>This is especially true for non-native speakers, and we hope to see improvements in that regard as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One tool that needs improvement is Magnifier, and since it\u2019s the most used out of all accessibility features, we hope that Microsoft will prioritize this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Magnification &#8211; needs smaller numbers in-between, Ex: 100% -%125<\/p><cite><em>Anonymous respondent<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Users aren\u2019t too pleased because they can only pick between several values, and there\u2019s no option to fine-tune the zoom level. This is such a small change but a major quality-of-life improvement, and we hope to see it in one of the future updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking of visual accessibility features, many aren\u2019t too pleased with the High Contrast feature. It suffers from the same problem as the Magnifier feature, and that\u2019s a lack of customization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>High Contrast. As a visually impaired person, the settings are too basic. Every aspect of changing colors for every single item in the GUI is needed.<\/p><cite><em>Anonymous respondent<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The ability to customize every UI element would be beneficial, but we\u2019re doubtful that Microsoft will implement that shortly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, many are looking for improvements related to screen reading and voice controls, and they are hoping that Microsoft will make these features more responsive, more accurate, and more supportive of different languages and accents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Improved Screen Readers and Voice Control: Screen readers and voice control features are essential for individuals with visual impairments or motor disabilities.
